Porter
crab Family Dorippidae Porter crabs got their common name for their habit of carrying things on their backs. This one (photographed upside down) was carrying a large shell. The crab has specially adapted legs to hold on to its protective shelter. Hidden under cover, the crabs are only spotted when things that shouldn't move start to move! |
