Gobies
Family Gobiidae Tiny gobies abound in the pools left at low tide. Many are the same colour as the sand and mud. They often stay motionless until the last moment, whereupon they disappear in a cloud of sediment. Gobies are adapted for bottom living. They have large eyes at the top of their heads, a cylindrical body that is not really designed for fast swimming. Many have their pelvic fins on their underside fused into a suction cup to help grip the surface. |
